Happy 250th Anniversary America!

THE MILESTONE: AMERICA AT 250
On July 4, 2026, the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary — a milestone known as the Semiquincentennial. This moment is both a historic celebration of how far the nation has come, and a powerful reminder of why the American experiment remains a unique source of pride.

OUR ORIGINS
The American story began with a radical idea. In the 18th century, the thirteen American colonies grew increasingly frustrated by British colonial rule, particularly "taxation without representation." On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, drafted primarily by Thomas Jefferson.

Jefferson’s document was revolutionary. At a time when the world was ruled by absolute monarchs and empires, America’s founders declared that "all men are created equal" and that governments derive their power strictly from the consent of the governed. The Revolutionary War (1775–1783) was fought to defend these ideals, culminating in the birth of a constitutional republic built to evolve.

WHY WE CELEBRATE
We believe that celebrating America's 250th birthday is not about claiming a flawless history; it is about celebrating the enduring framework that allows the nation to constantly better itself. We celebrate for three vital reasons:

  • An Unbroken Line of Democracy: The U.S. Constitution is the world's oldest written national constitution still in use. For two and a half centuries, through civil war, economic depressions, and global conflicts, the nation has maintained a continuous, peaceful constitutional government.
  • The Power of Self-Correction: The true genius of America lies in its ability to amend itself. From abolishing slavery to expanding voting rights, American history is a story of brave citizens holding the nation accountable to its founding promise.
  • A Living Blueprint for Freedom: America proved to the world that a diverse society can govern itself through laws, debate, and the ballot box rather than by the decree of a king.

AMERICAN PRIDE & INNOVATION
American pride is rooted in the shared values, culture, and achievements that have shaped the modern world. It is a place where a few inspired and forward-thinking citizens in Marion, Virginia envisioned and created a small bank in 1874 amid nationwide economic turmoil. They did so because they had faith in the strength of their country and recognized the needs of their neighbors. They believed in the “American Dream.”

America remains the global beacon of this dream — a society where your destiny is determined by your hard work, talent, and ambition, not by the circumstances of your birth. From the lightbulb and the internet to mapping the human genome and landing on the Moon, American ingenuity has consistently pushed humanity forward and elevated global standards of living.

THE RENEWED PROMISE
America is not a finished product. It is a constant, ongoing project — a promise that each generation is given the privilege and the duty to renew.
